Building a bed rail

As Casey grows older, wife would like her to be able to climb out of her own bed(cot), so we have to replace the bed rail.

No worries, I had some scrap timber laying around

[See image gallery at james.lin.net.nz] I had some trouble with the scrap timber as they were not straight so the measurement was a bit out, so I had to do some alternation etc.

But this project is doomed that I was a bit worried the timber is treated, even with a coat of oil still can pose health issues, so I ended up not using the bed rail.

When we went out to parks, my daughter seemed she enjoyed playing in mini-houses, which made me want to build one in our backyard so she can play whenever she wants.

Since it’s a bit more complicated structure than previous ones, I had to draw it up somewhere, and I used an online 3D modelling tool called tinkercad.

Once the model was created then it was time to roll up my sleeves

Mini Deck

Another retrospect to my wood work hobby, so I was looking for things to make (and make more use of the mitre saw), I managed to find a small project to do, building a mini-deck between the main house and laundry room, we used to leap across the concrete foundation between the 2 areas since it was always dusty, but it was posing a safety issue that we might trip when we leap with a basket of cloths. So I did all the measurement and calculation, went to Bunnings and purchased some decking boards and off I went.

Wood work, something that I have never done before.

This is a small post goes back to July 2016, my dad bought me an AEG mitre saw from Bunnings which I had no project in mind and have never done wood work before.

So I did big clean up in the garage in the morning to make room for the to be built workshop, then off to do my first wood project, the workbench! I didn’t have any drawing but had it figured out in my brain.
