When faced with the high cost of a $1500 bike rack, it’s time to get creative and make your own.
I started this project late last year, and it has undergone a few design changes, particularly in how the bike is positioned. One challenge was figuring out how to keep the bike upright while also allowing for easy disassembly for storage. This past Saturday, with my wife out meeting friends in town, I finally had some free time to try out a solution I’d been pondering for weeks.
I’m quite pleased with the quick-release design I came up with, although I may need to reinforce the stand holder pole to make it more sturdy. Now it’s time to test it out with the family—what could possibly go wrong?
The next step will be to modify it to accommodate an extra bike.
